For the 1990 season, Six Flags Great Adventure celebrated Bugs Bunny's 50th birthday.  Throughout the park banners and signs with a special Happy Birthday Bugs logo were placed on lamp posts and buildings. A special show aptly named "The Bugs Bunny Birthday Show" was presented in the Bugs Bunny Land Theater for the season.

On July 27th, 1990 Bugs Bunny's official birthday was celebrated at the park with a day of special events.

A special "Bugs Bunny: This Is Your Life" show took place at the Bandstand on the Lake, with all of the characters from Bugs past joining him onstage.

Members of the audience wore Bugs Bunny ears and were invited to sign a giant birthday card just for the rabbit of the hour.

Joining Bugs at the park for the celebration were Friz Freleng, one of the Warner Brothers animators who created Bugs Bunny. Also present was Jeff Bergman, voice artist who took over the main vocals for the Looney Tunes after the death of Mel Blanc in 1989. Both spoke to the media about the significance of Bugs in pop culture.

The characters and clowns followed along in a decorated wagon and the park's clown car.
