Once again I am truly impressed with how Six Flags (and Great Adventure in particular) has lead the theme park industry on how to be creative and how to operate a park safely during this crazy pandemic. When most other parks have thrown in the towel, Great Adventure has forged ahead and thought outside of the box on how they can keep us entertained this year. Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience is another example of this!7 points

Not a typical trip report, but this past week I was able to go to Prospertown with a friend and fish on his canoe. It was nice to get some shots of Nitro and check in on Jersey Devil. Hopefully they’ll resume construction soon! No fish for me, but my friend was able to catch 2 sunnies and 4 crappies.7 points

Hi Everyone... My website, www.FlyinPhilsPhotos.com, has finally been updated to be easier to view on a smart phone, though viewing on a PC is still recommended. All broken links have been restored and the general flow of the gallery pages has been streamlined, including my amusement parks and roller coaster pages. All galleries have been moved to my Google Drive and thus the FLASH galleries I used to feature have been eliminated. As I always say, I hope you enjoy the view from above... Stay Well...Stay Safe !!!6 points

MAP UPDATE: It has obviously been a while since progress has been made on the new coaster, but I wanted to update you all on a few things. First, I haven't put out a map in a while and I aim to finish up my final remaining map since construction has been halted. I am currently working on the site map for April 14, 2020, and that is unfortunately the final map until construction resumes. I will review the June construction update and keep a close eye on any noticeable changes, but I can't guarantee I will find anything of value. Other than 4/14 which I aim to complete soon, no other maps will b5 points

We went today, and it was great to drive through again!! Our reservations were at 3, and we had a BLAST. My *only* complaint was the staff was trying to break everyone into two lanes of traffic at each of the checkpoints...and then everyone went back to 1 lane and then you had those who would weave from one side to another holding up traffic. One car was REALLY bad-almost hit me and the car in front of me, and the staff actually pulled them aside twice, and then finally escorted them the rest of the way out. I had to laugh and could only think that the folks never drove through the old safari5 points

I had a great time today at the Safari! It was nice to see the animals and get some unique shots of the coasters. I’m also glad to see that GASM is still getting some love in a way5 points

I know there are other people on here who may also be graduating college this year, so this is a shout out to us for the hard work that we've been through these past four (If you're getting your Bachelors like myself) years! Congrats to those getting their Masters and Doctorates as well! I know we don't get to graduate like most other classes do, but it's still a time to celebrate! Congrats to all graduates What degree does everyone have? I'm going to have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering5 points

Hi everyone. I visited the park this past Friday, but I never posted my trip report because I've been busy every day since then (also, because I apparently wasn't the only one from this website who was at the park that day) Despite the CHILLY weather and reduced capacity, there was a sizeable number of guests at the park. After entering the park at 10:45-ish, my mother and I first went to Superman. It had a 45 minute wait since there was only one train operating, and also because it broke down for a bit. After some lunch at the Yum Yum Cafe, we went on the Big Wheel (which still has separat4 points

Based on information from the Ocean County Clerk's Office, back in December 2020, Six Flags sold land to Cardinale Jackson Crossing Associates for $7,775,823. This is the same company responsible for the Adventure Crossing development across from Wawa on Route 537. I thought that all the land had already been sold to them. However, you can see in the attached image, the area in blue is the additional land that was sold back in December. The land area is 91.41 acres in total. SF_DeedSale.pdf4 points

Some bad news and some good news to share... The bad news, Six Flags Over Georgia has officially removed their skyride, meaning Great Adventure has the last remaining skyride of all the Six Flags parks. The good news is any salvageable parts are coming to GA to help keep our Skyride running. The BEST news, I just got confirmation from one of the techs who worked on it that Great Adventure's Skyride just got finished being re-cabled yesterday! That means it should be fairly safe from removal for another few years!!! Here's the picture he posted4 points

Hey everyone! This last semester I took an Electronic Media Production class at my University, and our final assignment was to make a video project about any topic we chose. Of course it seemed like Great Adventure would be a perfect topic for me and something that would be really easy and fun to talk about. We were limited to about 2 minutes, but after this assignment I feel like I could make a whole series! Covid has impacted so much, and it was certainly interesting to do so many of my college classes online. I decided a nice tie-in to make the assignment topical was to discuss how GAdv was4 points

I would LOVE to see a Timber-town retheme where Safari kids currently is, I think it would fit in nicely in the area! (The Jersey Devil is also located within the pine barrens so I think they’d work well near each other!)4 points

This would definitely elevate that section of the park. It’s the only lakefront area in the park and I’d love to see it be more special and appreciated.4 points

Hello everyone! Yesterday was a fun day at the park with fantastic weather (around mid-60s) and relatively short wait times. My mother and I entered the park around 1:30 and first went on Justice League, which had literally just opened up (we were 2nd train of the day). Next was Wonder Woman (20 minute wait including a fast recovery from technical difficulties) then the Dark Knight -with no pre-show and partially in the light due to the necessary ventilation, which was interesting. I was able to get a good look at the Jersey Devil from the footbridge connecting Safari Kids and LT Seaport. Ther4 points

The "documentary" and book were both full of conjecture and unfounded speculation and should be taken with a whole shaker of salt. There is a lack of pictures inside the Haunted Castle. Back then it cost too much to take pictures which probably wouldn't come out because it was too dark to get a clear shot. Because of this we still haven't done a spotlight on it. This is a tricky subject because we want to be fair to the park and the victims, but not being experts on what happened we really don't want to say too much about the fire and really want to focus on the attracti4 points

I contacted Six Flags and they actually were able to transfer my 2020 pass order to the 2021 season. So if anyone has a season pass that they haven't been able to use this year and don't plan on using, I recommend contacting them.3 points

I'm just happy that we got this coaster and it has been partially been built before the pandemic. I think future investments in the chain are uncertain at this time, so getting this big investment of a coaster right beforehand was a win.3 points

Log Flume construction photos! First, the long removed back dip under construction and second, the logs have arrived! Anyone else like me wish the dip still existed? It would be like the dark "there's nothing in here but bees" portion of Splash Mountain.3 points

A reservation system and limits on daily attendance just doesn't sound like it could be profitable for many of the parks. For it to work at Great Adventure I would think you'd have to have maximum daily limits on attendance and ensure those limits are reached each day. Think about how difficult that would be to do consistently in a park like Great Adventure where so many of the park's costs are fixed. I have no idea what daily attendance needs to be generated at the gate in order to break even these days, because parks have a vast number of revenue streams that they did not have before the3 points
