  1. No one knows, and those who do can't say. Asking over and over will not get you anywhere. I know nothing about what the 2020 additions will be, but once again with new competition on the coaster front (Meadowlands & Hershey) and the new competition on the kids front (Legoland), I could see either a new coaster, or an updated kids area, or both. At this point I don't even know if corporate or the park has made firm decisions about the next year yet. Part of it always has to do with what the competition is doing which isn't always known.
  2. Always these things are guestimates anyway, since all the actual attendance numbers are confidential. I've always questioned how they arrive at these numbers and what they count. When parks like Magic Kingdom, Universal, Busch Gardens have "hard ticket" holiday events for Halloween and Christmas, do they count towards the overall attendance or does that get thrown out? And if they count it, what if someone has a ticket for the daytime regular park hours and the night time special event? Is that one admission or two? The whole thing is subject to interpretation...
  3. I wonder if the I Heart Radio contract ran out?
  4. OMG-- I forgot! Happy Birthday Harry!!!
  5. There’s still a decent chunk being saved. That was a huge structure with two circuits, and the new coaster will just be a single circuit. I think they may have found issues they weren’t expecting when they began working on it as well.
  6. Quite often it's the approval from the state or local authorities. I still remember the passholder event for Golden Kingdom where they hadn't received the certificate of occupancy for any of the buildings so we could walk through and look into the buildings, but couldn't go in them.
  7. I think that an expanded/improved kids area could be in the cards. Between the investments that have been happening at Sesame Place and the construction of a new Legoland park in New York, there will be increased competition for the younger crowds.
  8. ^ Yeah, that's where I was seeing it all down here in Orlando.
  9. Holy crap, all the photos of today at the park look insane! 130 minute wait for Skull Mountain, 45 minute wait for Teacups...
  10. Not necessarily. That's still only the back of the mountain opened up. It looks like the guest facing front side is still intact.
  11. Superman is a really fun ride. The SFNE version is better, but the SFA/SFDL version is a lot of fun too!
  12. Thinking back to years ago and how little material we had, things have really snowballed! And of course with the more recent seasons (since the dawn of digital photography especially), we just have TONS of photos to sort through and that takes forever. Having more material is a blessing and a curse...
  13. Lower your expectations, but enjoy the park. They have a couple of great rides and it's not a bad park, but kind of sad compared to GA.
  14. Bringing back an old ride will NEVER happen. The cost to bring back an old, unreliable ride that few people liked is the same cost as building a new ride. Money is much better spent on something new.
  15. Great ideas, but unless you know where they can get an extra few million dollars to spend on them it won't happen. There are all kinds of things that we'd like to see happen and even the park would like to have happen, but unless they suddenly get a bigger budget for new rides, shows, etc, it won't happen. Perhaps when they get a new CEO they will change budget allocations and increase capital spending, but that would be at least 2 years down the road, and there are so many things that require spending now that are higher priority.
  16. It was much worse to have to do that on the bobsled. Telling strangers they had to sit with someone in their lap who they didn't know was really tough.
  17. Totally agree! The Randall Duell designed buildings of the entry plaza had charm and style. They went to great lengths to use the genuine materials. The renderings for the new entry plaza looks so generic in comparison. It's sad, but it seems like it was a necessary change after the old entry was flooded several times in the past few years. The flood waters probably caused problems that needed to be addressed and they decided to just start from scratch and try to alleviate the flooding issues at the same time.
  18. I'm trying to figure out if the whole mountain is coming down or if they are just opening up the back to get the coaster parts out.
  19. Actually it was a memorial to an employee. There was never a memorial for the Haunted Castle. It was something they wanted to forget.
  20. Businesses count on the fact that if you have any kind of membership with automatic draft billing, you'll just continue to pay every month and not cancel. They want to keep you as a member and so many people never look at their credit card bills they never notice they're still paying for something long after they stop using it.
  21. There's nothing wrong with Six Flags trying to even out their revenue stream while giving more benefits to encourage you to do it. Memberships just make sense for them since it means they no longer have several months of the year with no revenue stream from parks. That along with the extended seasons of all their parks makes a lot of financial sense and also makes their revenue stream much more predictable.
  22. With a trademarked name it doesn't matter if people heard of it or not. Cedar Fair trademarked Copperhead Strike, and if Six Flags named a roller coaster Copperhead they would most likely sue for trademark infringement or at least begin legal action and get them to change the name. Just like when Cedar Fair name Voodoo at Dorney Park and Six Flags got them to change the name to Possessed because Six Flags had the Voodoo name trademarked for a theme park attraction. Doesn't matter Voodoo is a flat ride in Mexico and no one at Dorney ever heard of it.
  23. The same thing just happened to Universal with Warner Brothers approval of the name for the new Harry Potter coaster.
  24. The park fire department was doing controlled burns today on parts of the property:
