  1. Next Thursday, August 1st, Universal will be making a BIG announcement from the Orange County Convention Center at 10:00 AM. Speculation is they will be announcing the new theme park and unveiling their plans for the next four years. The new them park is expected to open in 2023, and will be the first new theme park to open in the US in quite a while.
  2. Having the Safari gives the park HUGE tax benefits. It's not going anywhere unless those tax benefits are.
  3. Wow, only 210' and 4,600'+. Much smaller than I would have guessed. I don't think that will even be the tallest or fastest in PA. I know not every coaster can be a record breaker, and Mako (which has similar stats) is a great coaster, but it seems like they would have just gone a bit bigger to outdo Nitro. It's (much like Mako) a little brother to Nitro.
  4. I find it interesting that after the initial two RMC Raptors, no other park has decided to install them the next season. Much like the Sky Warp, they look neat but didn't perform up to expectations.
  5. Looks like fun, but would be a better fit in one of the smaller parks where space is at a premium and they don't need the higher capacity that GA does.
  6. That really sounds like BGW's coaster from the description, and while it's possible that both parks are getting similar things, I doubt it. Universal's INTAMIN coaster parts have been arriving for a while now:
  7. Dubai has little to no bearing on the other Six Flags parks since it was a licensing deal, unless the company who was building the park had already ordered rides (doubtful). Darrien Lake and Frontier City a both being run by Six Flags but are not owned by Six Flags, so they have different financial arrangements and obligations. I would guess they will be seeing more "off the shelf" additions.
  8. Yes, and they are open 365 days a year, so people will come to ride it whenever it's open.
  9. Yeah, I thought that too, just with fancy tops on them
  10. It felt longer than Chiller, and the vertical loop was a lot more comfortable than the cobra roll or twists on Chiller, even with the horse collars.
  11. Seeing it, it really is a new version of Matterhorn/Space Mountain, with short stretch of track, block brake, short stretch of track, block brake, short stretch of track, block brake...
  12. Interesting idea. It was a good ride-- I thought it was better than Chiller.
  13. ^ Wouldn't be a horrible idea! An afternoon nap is sometimes a good idea...
  14. It's so funny they might finally do this, only after ground has already been broken just up the street for a hotel. For years there were no hotels in the area for miles and now there may be two or three within walking distance of each other...
  15. Just over six weeks to the first Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party...
  16. Spending almost the entire month of June learning new skills is simultaneously exciting and exhausting. Having to go from early morning shifts to late night shifts and having to work 60+ hours each week to do the training really doesn't help...
  17. As long as people keep coming, they'll keep raising prices. And if people stop coming they just offer discounts to make people think they're getting a deal (even though they're paying more than they used to).
  18. People are selling them for a lot of money on eBay! SeaWorld Parks have all rolled out an extensive pin trading/collecting program, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Six Flags do something like that as well.
  19. I NEED the 45th anniversary pin!
  20. Great pics! Nice to see the solar panels from the air like that.
  21. My friend Jason who writes for Frommer's put together some great info for those planning a visit to SWL to get the most out of it: https://www.frommers.com/slideshows/848346-your-visit-to-star-wars-galaxy-s-edge-will-be-much-better-if-you-know-these-things-first?fbclid=IwAR0aLd99YbamOv_G-15MN1GCCtyi3w1GV2ZQZ6XyNQdsQp3b8gepVcVAeDM
  22. Wow, the reactions online I've been seeing have said this was a great addition to the park!
  23. Any time that they are doing any work utilities and other things need to be marked. It could just be for re-paving or something simple. Don't read too much into anything until it actually happens. There have been MANY projects in the park that were marked out and looked like they were "the next new thing" which turned into absolutely nothing in the end.
