  1. We're kicking off our annual Great AVDENTure Calendar today, December 1st! Our wish for Day #1 is for online pass processing:
  2. I'm highly doubtful the governor makes the call on how much road salt to use and when to use it
  3. I had the same one! I earned a couple of free season passes with it. Then it turned into a Chase blue card...
  4. They used to have one through Chase which earned you tickets and season passes.
  5. We used to learn about the Jersey Devil in school. I still remember this:
  6. I would guess their Sky Screamer isn't tall enough to require any modifications. They have a 150' height limit and I'd guess theirs is within reach of rescue equipment.
  7. Some exciting news! It looks like our book is being carried in Target stores this Christmas. Be on the lookout for a great gift for the Great Adventure fan you know! It's supposed to be carried in the Target stores closest to the park, so if anyone see the books in their Target please take pictures and share them.
  8. Knott's is bringing back an updated version of the Bear-y Tales dark ride.
  9. I saw that now Yum Yum is doing a breakfast menu all day. Not sure if this is just for HITP or ongoing for next season.
  10. Google does periodic updates, but they really don't worry about what's been added or not. It's just luck of the draw as to when they update.
  11. Wow, such a slick graphic opening for the video, then Blair Witch style photography...
  12. Interesting takes on the current situation and possibilities coming up: https://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2019/10/11/the-future-of-floridas-amusement-parks-is-about-to-get-really-complicated-thanks-to-seaworld-six-flags-and-an-onslaught-of-private-equity-f?utm_source=feature&utm_medium=home&utm_campaign=hpfeatures&utm_content=HomeTopFeature&fbclid=IwAR2e260l3eXhiNuUNx7z358NXHi5nTBbD0T7mMjz-HPf2FXrhHRIBj536g4
  13. Most of the complaints I see about Six Flags operations really vary from park to park. I think so much comes down to park leadership, with managers who are established doing better than ones who have just taken over. It takes a season or two of fine tuning to get things running the way they should. The biggest problem I've seen with Six Flags is inconsistency from manager to manager, and just when things hit their stride, they move the manager to another park.
  14. I believe that is the electrical shed that controls the lighting in the mall area. It makes sense that if they did a bunch of updates to the lighting they finally updated the shed that controls it as well.
  15. Six Flags really sees the membership program as a huge win, and adding more parks would simply increase that. When they were in talks to try and purchase SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment a few years ago one of the big things mentioned was that having more properties would simply increase their membership sales. Memberships are a predictable and steady year round income for the company, and that's what they're really working for, evening out the revenue across the whole year. More parks, even in close proximity like Dorney and GA would probably do more to boost both parks with pass sales. When you have several parks like this (SFA/KD, Great America/SFDK, Knott's/Magic Mountain, etc) this just gets more profitable.
  16. No, but H Partners who were the majority owners of Six Flags up until just a year or two ago wanted to merge the two companies. They were in talks 10+ years ago.
  17. When H-Partners took control of Six Flags after the bankruptcy they had been in talks to merge the two companies. Rehan Jaffer showed me pictures of his meeting with Dick Kinzel out at Cedar Point back then. It's an interesting idea to merge the two, lots of cost savings could be found, I just wonder whose culture wins out? Mergers are always tricky and don't always turn out in ways you expect. In my work life I've been through several mergers, and sometimes the company acquired ends up making big changes to the company that acquired it. If it does happen, it will be good for Six Flags passholders.
  18. Kind of hard to add those when we don't have picture yet...
  19. Unfortunately parks really don't care much about capacity anymore when they offer pay to cut the line. They make more money selling those passes than they would if they put something high capacity in.
  20. Following in the footsteps of Geauga Lake...
  21. Between the wood coaster going into SeaWorld San Antonio, the launched steel coasters going into BGW and SeaWorld Orlando, and the RMC coaster replacing Gwazi at BGT, there'll be a bunch of great new coasters coming next year to compete for "best new coaster".
  22. So, maybe this year BBNP will be open instead?
  23. I think LTSP/Safari Kids is pretty much staying as it is, just clearing those rides all the way at the back into the middle of it all. The area I assume will be used for JD is circled in red, and I'd guess they'll use the old pathway next to Rapids (marked in gray) as the entrance/queue to it. Really only the submarine looks like it NEEDS to move, but I'm guessing they'll move the teacups so they can use the old Rapids food and gift building for a shop: If I had to guess, they'll probably just relocate those two rides to the old Big Red Cars/Safari Jeeps area near the front of LTSP. Maybe they'll even put the train back in?
