  1. This would put the headquarters across the street from Six Flags Over Texas. https://dfw.cbslocal.com/2019/10/15/six-flags-looks-to-move-hq-to-globe-life-park-arlington/
  2. I wonder if Six Flags would be interested in operating La Feria De Chapultepec. It is really close to Six Flags Mexico, but has almost 1.6 million visitors per year according to TEA/AECOM. The Mexican government just revoked the operating permit from the current operator after a fatal rollercoaster accident.
  3. Valleyfair is removing Looping Starship. https://twitter.com/ValleyfairMN/status/1183754842520641536
  4. I still think the best fit for Six Flags is the Palace Entertainment parks. Now that we know what type of price Cedar Fair is looking for, I could see Scott Ross attempting a bid to merge SeaWorld with Cedar Fair and having the Cedar Fair executives take over management of the new company. Scott Ross was involved in Apollo's attempted $2.4 billion buyout of Cedar Fair in 2010.
  5. S&S built a new prototype coaster and it appears to be a compressed air launch with a new seating arrangement. Note: you can see the Steeplechase prototype in the background. Source: https://www.facebook.com/SandSSansei/posts/1210914462414640
  6. On the last earnings call, Six Flags said there is a lot of interest in the CEO position and they were in the process of interviewing people. In 2009, the two parks Cedar Fair wanted to sell were Valleyfair and Worlds of Fun. Considering the current state of Kings Dominion and the buildup of Busch Gardens Williamsburg, I wouldn't be surprised if Cedar Fair was willing to part with Kings Dominion. https://www.mprnews.org/story/2009/03/09/valleyfair_sale

  9. And we have some smoke, Cedar Fair backed out of the investor conference that was supposed to start 14 minutes ago. I guess they don't want to answer any questions about this. I woke up early to listen to the webcast and all links to the conference were deleted from Cedar Fair's investor page this morning. https://seekingalpha.com/news/3503666-cedar-fair-said-skipping-conference-today https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20190927005044/en/Cedar-Fair-Executives-Participate-B.-Riley-FBR
  10. ^SFGAm/Cedar Point would be another one. Cedar Point does a lot of radio and television marketing in the Chicago/Northern Illinois area and it has been increasing over the last few years.
  11. Six Flags had a conference at Kings Island recently. 12. I would be more concerned about California's Great America than Dorney. I think Dorney would fit right into the Six Flags strategy and wouldn't require heavy investment. California's Great America is in a state of disrepair and will require a substantial investment over many years. It is also much closer to Discovery Kingdom than Dorney is to Great Adventure. If this deal went through, it might make sense to sell off some parks to pay down debt. I could see Great Adventure being sold to SeaWorld, due to the amount of money it would bring in. Something feels off about this rumor. I wonder if Six Flags simply approached Cedar Fair to purchase some of their lower tier parks and it was misinterpreted as Six Flags making an offer for the whole company.
  13. Nice! I hate the 2018 and 2019 maps because I find them hard to use. I wish they would go back to the maps that list everything by park section instead of thrill level. I know some parks are still using that style of map.

  15. Everything is for sale if the price is right.
  16. I am curious what the offer price would have to be for Six Flags to consider selling Great Adventure to another company, such as SeaWorld.
  17. Yes, I have thought Kennywood and Sandcastle Waterpark would be acquired by Six Flags for some time. It would open up access to the Pittsburgh and Cleveland markets for Six Flags. With the relationship Six Flags has with EPR Properties, it is possible for EPR to acquire the park and lease it back to Six Flags. Everyone is expecting the new owners of Parques Reunidos to begin selling off parks (mostly in the U.S.) in the first half of next year. Some people believe that SeaWorld is looking to expand it's footprint by acquiring some regional parks in the next couple of years, but this is just a rumor.
  18. I am guessing this is going to be redeveloped as a residential project. Firing all of the full time employees indicates that this will not continue to operate as an amusement park.

  20. SeaWorld CEO Gus Antorcha resigned, Marc Swanson appointed interim CEO. https://www.mynews13.com/fl/orlando/news/2019/09/16/seaworld-ceo-gus-antorcha-resigns
  21. I am thinking Six Flags Mexico, Six Flags America, Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags St. Louis, and Great Escape get new coasters for 2021. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom: Zamperla Endeavour Six Flags Magic Mountain: Zamperla Super Air Race & Larson Giga Loop Six Flags Mexico: S&S Compressed Air Launch Coaster Six Flags Fiesta Texas: New Water Slide Six Flags Over Texas: Funtime Vomatron Six Flags St. Louis: S&S 4D Free Spin Six Flags Great America: Zamperla Giga Discovery & Zamperla Endeavour Six Flags Over Georgia: S&S 4D Free Spin Six Flags America: Vertical Velocity from SFGAm Six Flags Darien Lake: Zamperla Giant Discovery Six Flags New England: Water Park Expansion / New Water Slide Frontier City: Funtime Star Flyer Great Escape: Zamperla Wild Mouse / Twister Coaster 420STD La Ronde: Funtime Vomatron Hurricane Harbor Concord: New Water Slide Hurricane Harbor LA: Nothing Hurricane Harbor Phoenix: Nothing Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec: Nothing Hurricane Harbor Arlington: Nothing Hurricane Harbor Splashtown: Nothing Hurricane Harbor Oklahoma City: Nothing Hurricane Harbor Rockford: Nothing White Water Atlanta: Nothing
  22. Am I missing some sort of terrain change? 126 ft tall to a flat piece of land isn’t a 130 ft drop. The press release said: “Tension-building ascent up a towering, 130-foot lift hill”. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20190829005027/en/Jersey-Devil-Coaster-Shatter-World-Records-2020
  23. So it’s 126 ft tall instead of 130 ft tall. Only 13 ft taller than Wonder Woman and 20 ft taller than Railblazer.
  24. Six Flags doesn't have a choice in selecting paint colors for DC Comics themed rides. DC Comics says Batman is yellow and black now.
