  1. Great pictures! I went in 2014 and had a blast there, I love intimidator, I had such a hard time keeping my eyes open on that ride from the speed, especially in the front row lol

The ride isn't for me but I love the theme on the krypt, looks so much nicer then ads for twixs bars.

I also thought it was weird how you had to walk through the store to get to grizzly.

  2. Nice report! It was an awesome day to be at the park, I did eat at best of the West and I thought the service was slow considering there were only like 5 people in front of me and it was basically empty. If they can't move the lines quickly when it's empty it's going to only be even worse when it's packed.

  3. Nice report! Can you give some more details about the Yosemite Sam dark ride? I've always been curious about it.

It was something we wanted to check out simply because our park here is lacking in this area. Going through the queue they have a bunch of boxes that are acme products, as you get closer to getting on the ride there is taz in a box, you don't see him but you can hear him.

Im not sure what year it was exactly made but you can tell they were aiming for a ride like Disney and I think it works very well. The animatronics aren't the best but they all look just like the warner brothers cartoon characters and all the major characters make appearances. It just looks old.

You enter a mini boat, I forget what it exactly looked like but there are 2 rows in it. You go through a whole story about how Yosemite Sam stole gold and Bugs bunny and the other characters are trying to stop him and get it back. It was actually longer then I thought it was going to be and I definitely recommend checking it out if the line isn't ridiculously long.

It's something that I'm not really sure why our park hasn't tried to add, they could come up with a new story and use newer technology. It could be a great family ride and would easily be popular right away.

  4. Oh I meant the people buying the photos! Not charging to have the picture taken or doing a character meet and greet-that would suck.

Oh my bad for misunderstanding, I think adding the superhero characters around their appropriate rides would be ok, I believe this has happened in the past?

The picture pass is great because you can get their photographers to take a photo and you just add the photo to your card on one of the kisoks.

  5. To add to the list I've seen Daffy Duck and marvin the Martian but I think that was a female version.

Six flags over Texas has the superhero characters out in front of the Justice League ride so maybe that's what they will do when we get one.

I think charging extra costs just for photos should never happen. It's not like the parks are paying that much to the people in the suits in the first place.

  6. Glad you enjoyed! Do you remember the guide? Camp Adventura was closed and hasn't been open at all this season. It was slated to open last weekend but due to a few circumstances(weather etc) it remains closed and they're hoping for next weekend.

You could always ask your guide(in the few upcoming week or two incase it isn't open) as you get on the trucks, otherwise if it is open, the trucks always stop to let those who choose to get off, off and then they move up and load people on and the tour continues! Highly recommend giraffe feedings, I love doing them. its $5 for SP holders, $6 for non SP holders.

I never did the safari back when you could drive through it and as much as I love roller coasters I thought this was a nice break after eating lunch. In comparing it to animal kingdoms safari ride I actually liked this one more, I felt like we were way closer to the animals then at animal kingdom. The giraffes in both parks are the ones that come up the closest in my visits. One giraffe today stuck his head in the truck to say hello lol

I believe her name was Jan? She was an older lady, she was excellent. She said there was a survey to fill out if we liked her and I gotta do that.

Thanks for the info about the prices and camp adventura, that's a great deal and on par with most zoos I've been to when they have feedings.

This was the guy who wanted to say hello...

  7. Great day at the park, not sure if I'll write up a trip report but I got on more rides today (12) in less time today then I did waiting 2 hours for the Justice League ride in over Texas last weekend. The weather was perfect for me today. I actually noticed that the photo booths do have the self scanners for the picture pass. I guess I just didn't notice them in my previous trips.

I can't recommend the picture pass enough. For 35 bucks you get one printed picture the first day you activate it and then you get all the rest of your on ride photos and photos with characters on your card which ends up on the website as well. You can edit the photos too, zoom to get strangers out of the picture and change the different borders. Then you just download them to wherever you want. If you have a family or group of friends you can all use the card as well. It's a fantastic deal and works in the other six flags parks as well.

I did the safari for the first time today and it was fantastic. No rhinos or elephants cause it was too cold. Camp adventura was closed today but does anyone know how you find that out first? I would like to do the giraffe feeding and maybe the zip line but I don't see any prices on the website. Do they just stop and let you off when it's open? I found that aspect to be unclear.

I think I already made my money back on the dining pass as well. It's still amazing to me how slow service is when the park was absolutely dead today. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like when it's packed.

  8. Already in the park and just watched kingda ka Valley during testing, it almost made it to the top and rolled back. That looks fun to be on lol

Basically nothing open on the El Toro / kingda ka side of the park still, I could have slept an hour later lol

  9. I may be going the 13th or 20th so if i do, remind me to tell you how crowds were! It shouldn't be too bad even if it is their spring break. I went in late June last year and it everything was still bearable at that time.

Thanks! I want to get on superman before they introduce the virtual reality and this is really the only weekend I can do 2 days before then. If you end up going the 20th I'll let you know how the crowds were as well.

I read on another forum that they don't let you choose what row you want except for a few rides? Did you have that happen as well?

  10. I just booked a hotel near the park for next weekend. I've never been before but I'm going to drive straight up to the park Saturday morning before it opens and then also do all day Sunday then drive home.

Any ideas on how crowded it is this time of year?

  11. It should keep crowds away, but like last Sunday, many rides will be closed with a possible early closure. I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to keep the park closed for the entire day.

Also happy 26th birthday to Viper at SFMM and happy belated 17th birthday to Bizarro (April 2).

Makes sense, might try to just go Sunday then since it looks to be just cold on Sunday without any rain.

  12. Sounds like an awesome time! Like you I'm more interested in the rides and shows then gambling. All those stratosphere rides plus the jump/zip line thing down are all on my things to do list when I go there, going to have a hard time convincing my gf to go on any of those lol

  13. Even though great adventure has been always the closest park to me I never went that often as a kid cause I didn't get really into roller coasters until my middle teenage years.

Once I was hooked with roller coasters I started traveling around the country with my parents to different theme parks but still never really went to great adventure.

I don't honestly remember how many times I have been to the park so I'm iffy on which of the rides that are no longer there that I had been on.

I know some time after nitro opened that my friend invited me to his family members corporate party that had rented the park out for the day.

In 06 or 07 I honestly don't remember which year but two of my friends and I decided to finally get six flags season passes. Well turns out only my one friend and I drove down there and only went to the park once. So it turned out to be a waste because they could never go.

So about 10 years after that my gf and I decided to go all in and get gold season passes and gold dining passes plus the picture pass for this year. In the previous years we had made a trip to Hersey Park, then did a weekend of Busch gardens Virginia and Kings Dominion. Then earlier this year we did the Disney and Universal Parks.

We figured we wanted to both go to great adventure since it had been so long for both of us and with the passes being so cheap we decided to go for it and travel to the other is flags parks. We already went to over Texas and are making plans for the one in Maryland, new England and upstate NY.

I stumbled onto this board looking for information about the season passes and was happy to find such an active forum. I really forgot how fun great adventure is and I've already been down there 3 times this current season and can't wait to go again already. I'm hooked.

  14. Nice report!

Sad to hear you feel like justice league didn't fully stand up to the hype and still seems to have some kinks to be worked out.

Having never been on one of the versions it's hard to judge, but I wish it was more versatile and had different scenes or track patters to go on to make it more re rideable. I feel like if we get one it wouldn't be something I would go out of the way for to ride every trip.

Thanks! Actually to add to it what I hope they improve to it for our park is that the shooting itself, I felt like I was really just shooting more randomly at things where as in other sorta similar rides like toy story mania and men in black I know where I am specifically aiming to get more points. Hell even the boo blasters ride at kings Dominion I knew what I was shooting at(though that is definitely not a better ride then this lol) I was hoping for more of a Spider-Man type ride at islands of adventure with just the added in element of shooting and being a game. The Spider-Man ride has way more effects then this one.

I think the main issue for myself was that everything on the screen was just happening too fast so the good guys and bad guys that you're suppose to be shooting at just kind of blend together at times.

I really liked the cyborg animations which made me want to see even more things like that with the ride. The actual joker (not the 3d part) during the ride is a fantastic feature and the best part of the whole thing. I just feel there should have been more aspects like that which could have been easily done with batman, superman and whatever other character they wanted. Besides cyborg it's basically a bunch of tvs to look at in the queue with banners that have the characters symbols on the walls.

Another thing I shook my head at was they basically had the same clown car moment during the ride as the end of our dark Knight ride. That felt so cheap and lazy to me.

This ride was the main reason I wanted to go to the park so maybe I did hype it up too much but I really feel like it could be a lot better. The one bright side is I'm glad the other parks are getting them first so maybe they will choose to improve upon ours whenever we get one or at least work out the bugs so it doesn't break down so much.

I would probably single rider ours if when we get one cause that line was considerably shorter and since it's fits two rows of 3 the line should move decently.

  15. Nice report! Sorry to here about the poop!

How did Justice League look from the outside? Was it a quality revamp from being a Right Stuff Mach 1 Adventure hangar?

I thought the building looked ok, still looks like a hangar of sorts and doesn't really stand out cause it's not all that colorful. They did have the superheros out in front of the building at one point during the day. The queue is mainly outside and for the portion that you are inside they loop about 4 different video segments which look like a video game animation that go along with Cyborg talking and moving. I think Cyborg is one of the best parts with him and the joker looking great. I just wish they added more real aspects to the ride instead of it being mainly a 3d shooter.

I do really need to go on it again cause the 2 hour wait plus being stopped and made to get off as soon as I was finally on and then finally getting on and getting stuck halfway through for another 15 mins definitely soured my mood about the ride. From hearing people talk around the park it apparently breaks down a lot.

Some pics I took of cyborg...
