1981 Guidebook Discovery

Recommended Posts

Found my copy of the guidebook a few days ago and noticed something. On Page three in the Flying Wave picture, there's a guy near the right-hand corner wearing a concert T-shirt. On Page six, the same guy is watching the Dolphin Spectacular (just to the right of the middle dolphin).

Many times they use the "official publicity photos" for the guidebooks. I know there are lots of pictures in the park's files where the same "family" is doing just about everything in the park, and the people around them are always the same extras as well. It's like when they do the commercial shoots and other publicity things, they'll have a group of about 50 people who they move from place to place. The couple of times I did it, they had us all around one of the games, then all in the station for a coaster, then all in Bugs Bunny Land.

GA,

That's good stuff. Didn't know that, but it makes sense.

Incidentally, check out the photo of the ride operators sitting on the railing of the Buccaneer with it in motion. Think they'd get away with that now?

I know. Every time I see that it makes me laugh. That and having more than one attendant on the ride. They used to have multiple attendants on all rides...
