Retro Photo Trip Report: April 8th, 2001 - Opening Weekend

Recommended Posts

I wish Batman was never painted yellow. It just looks so much more intimidating in black. Maybe they'll re-paint it before they run it backwards this summer. I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

I agree! I loved Batman when it was black. I also love these retro trip reports! Brings back awesome memories. Thank you for sharing.

I remember 2001 was one of those years (like this one) where it was snowy and cold right up to opening day (after a long VERY cold winter where Propsertown Lake froze over). They were doing a "Survivor" contest thing to promote the opening of Nitro (Survivor was the big new show at the time) and they had to cancel for snow and below freezing temperatures.

It's crazy to see how much the park changed in 15 years! There are so many defunct rides in this report, would anyone know why spinnaker never made it passed two seasons? It would be such a shame if they scrapped a ride they spent money on to barely even use for two years.

The Spnnaker was purchased used and it was far from reliable when it came to operations I only recall it operating once in 1999 and closed all of 2000. The ride was often in pieces so the park did make an effort to get it running.

I see, I thought it was used. Thank you 29yrswithaGApass ! So the park unfortunately got a lemon, too bad they couldn't get a refund lol.
