2017 and Beyond Speculation at SFGA

Recommended Posts

I'd put in a giant frisbee and an air race (video link below) as new thrill flats.

I think flyers of any condition could be a good family ride but I'm not sure about how long lines would be in a park the size of ours.

People always say how we can't afford to add low capacity rides because of our attendance, but that's completely baseless. Flying scooters are a family ride and will never be as popular as a thrill ride, yet we have Kingda Ka which realistically does maybe 500/hour and Total Mayhem which won't be that much higher.
Also... Cedar Point added flyers in 2014 and has higher attendance in a shorter, more concentrated period of time.

Agreed, smaller flats are fun additions and capacity would be fine.

And to the point above, giant flats are amazingly fun additions; I'd love us to snag a Huss Giant Frisbee at our park, but with the current guys in charge, I don't see it happening.

Capacity is relative...people will get in line based on wait time as opposed to the physical length of the line. For a major coaster, capacity is important, but for flat rides it doesn't matter as much.

SFOT is actually getting one next year, so I thought maybe we can get one within the next few years.

They had the Pendulum ride behind the Autobahn. That's similar to a Frisbee, but I think that'll make a good fit. Flying Scooters can also make a great fit in Adventure Alley, as long as they're good as the ones in Knoebels and Carowinds.

A big flat ride package to put life in the back of Movie Town + a show in the Showcase Theater would be great.

But a roller coaster for 2019 or 2020 should also be added in the abandoned Movie Town/Old Country section. For a show in the Showcase Theater, they should keep a magic show, and Ghoulmaster/Hypnosteria, but I think they need some shows that are out in public paths, but are not animal shows. We already have a good amount of animal shows, but we are really lacking in play like shows. And the Batman Stunt Arena should be used again for a new Batman show.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble but, I heard that chiller is the next "eyesore" to be torn down and that grand stand and fort was just the beginning.

I still wish they would refurbish the chiller Structures and add a multiple launch coaster in the future. Either premier or rmc single box track.

Well that's because afeter 7 years of not using the building, some wild animals tore through the building. It could cost a lot of money to repair the near 20 year old structure.

Actually, they use some of the remnants of Chiller as a training area. When I was there for GADV Online day this year, that's where we started out. They had multiple tables/chairs in there with ride op manuals.. So that's where they do some of the training.

As far as rides in the future, we will probably never see Flyers there because it seems like they are mainly in CF parks.. And to the one person above who mention the Air Race in Coney Island, they have them on Casino Pier in Seaside Heights...no need for them at GA. I'd honestly like to see the JL dark ride be added since it seems to be a big hit and we don't have anything of that nature in the park. As far as 2018, that's probably a good year for another coaster... maybe something like Thunderbird at Holiday World.. or maybe something like Gatekeeper at CP.

I would imagine the opening of the huge water park in the American Dream mall (and the ones in AC) will have an impact on plans for additions at Hurricane Harbor.

I believe that's the Zamperla model. Haven't ridden but have also heard good reviews, so would love to see them deploy more of those.

I went to Fright Fest this year and saw a raccoon in the trees between that wrecked car and the shop.

What wrecked car and shop?

That wrecked cop car or whatever it is next to the Dark Knight extended queue and that fright fest shop thing that used to be something for the Chiller.

Now this is WAY too big to be for "Total Mayhem", and since most if it besides the Track is already in the Park, it's not for that. Now i've heard that the Park rented some space to Amazon to store Trailers, and there are alot of Trailers already in the Employee Lot. (i thought that the Trailers in the Employee Lot could be for all the decorations for HITP before i heard the Amazon rumor) But i work at Amazon in Robbinsville now, i will try and find out on that end. But with this section that is closed off, and it's location, it's just another thing that could be pointing to them doing The Water Plant, and start 2017 at the same time since they are both the same area. And another note on the Water Plant, they stopped making those Pipes in the Employee Lot also, and there are none stored there anymore. I'm thinking they may have even been for "Carribean Cove", that kind of attraction requires ALOT of Pipes for all the different Water Element's. Curious to see what is there, if anything is this weekend.

EDIT : If you look thru the Trees behind the Bus Stop/Picnic Area in this shot, you can see al the Trailers in the Employee Lot, the back of the Lot has a row of them

The trailers are for Amazon. They are parked inside the fenced in area and they have signs in the employee entrance roadway telling them(the trailers) to stay right.

This is the RMC T-Rex track concept art on display at IAAPA. As we can see, it allows for far fewer supports than a traditional steel coaster, and the elenents look insane.

What I also noticed is the concept art looks a lot more similar to the animation sent out by SF in the attraction survey last year than I imagined. Since RMC said they already have suitors, and considering SF's relationship with RMC and their willingness to develop their prototypes, I feel even more confident this will be our next coaster (for '17, '18 or '19 the latest).

I keep seeing people say "the elements look insane." Its a steel coaster what makes RMC steel coaster able to do these elements vs other coaster makers? For example couldn't B&M make the same stuff?

They also have a much smaller single rail style on display also "Raptor"

^ Other companies *could* make the same elements but RMC seems to be the only one willing to right now.

I'm guessing RMC is also trying to enter the family coaster market with the "raptor" track.

^From an interview, at least for me, it seemed like they're working on their version of a mega-lite. The info I heard was around 2,000 feet long and easy to clone at a low cost. Could be a family coaster, but from the sounds of "it would only need to be designed once" and cloned to many parks, I think an RMC version of Lightning Run or Intamin's mega lites is in the works.

I think that the GADV History Museum should return in later years. But due to the new Fright Fest trail occupying the building in the fall months, i expect it to run until Labor Day. Or it could be in another building.
