Adventure Village, Egg Harbor Township, NJ

Recommended Posts

Back in the 60s along the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor was Adventure Village. A long defunct park that was torn down in 2009. It was a weird Wild West / Gay 90s Main Street themed park with train rides, Model T rides, Movie theater that showed old shorts and films, etc. The park opened in 1959 and operated for 10 years, and probably closed in1969.The really weird part of the park's history is that after it closed, the buildings were turned into apartments and people lived in a defunct amusement park for decades!

Here are a couple of links.

I was surprised to see this as I have never heard about it before. My parents bought a shore house in south Jersey in the early 70s and we went to the area for decades, but the park was never mentioned in any of the paper articles I have read over the years.

I do remember Zaberers Restaurant in Egg Harbor Township (which was an odd place) but not Adventure Village.

I never heard of it before too until I read it on Weird NJ.com. Perhaps the park never advertised itself that well which may have been part of the problem?
