Oh, no oh no! There's going to be rain/snow morning in Monday with 43 degrees nooooo! I wanna go to the park that day! But the weather will change on Monday right? My Accuweather has Sunny with 50 degrees! Is all the rides will be open if there's 43 degrees on Monday?

Accuweather is about the least accurate of the weather forecasters. Probably better pick a different day to go. If it follows the pattern of recent past storms, the forecast for Monday will keep getting worse. The long term forecasts are predicting continued cold weather with only a few short bouts of warmer weather for April. Its going to be another well below normal month. The forecasts for May are not looking good either. I just hope the park doesn't salt their parking lot.

This new place has waffles. I wonder if they are like the dessert waffles and if it'll be on the dining pass.

According to the park newsletter from 3/7:

Quote

Sugar Shack will serve authentic Belgian waffles made with real imported European pearl sugar, flavor burst soft serve ice cream, fresh cotton candy, and buttery popcorn. These new offerings will bring products and entertainment never offered before at Six Flags Great Adventure!

And Sugar Shack accepts the dining plan according to: https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/food-and-dining/ice-cream-sweets

Well the spring break weather for this coming week is looking pretty bad. Monday will only be 41 with 1 to 3 inches of snow, would not be surprised if the park just cancels that day. Tuesday will be in the 50s but rainy, Wednesday will be in the 60s but also hard rain. Thursday will be dry but cold only in the low 40s. Friday is probably the best weather day, mid 50s and dry. Saturday cold at only 40 with a chance for snow showers and next Sunday is still cold at just 43 and partly cloudy, about 20 degrees below normal. It looks like it will stay in the 40s after next weekend for a while. No sustained warm weather in sight yet, just a few odd single warm days here and there between long stretches of cold days that are well below normal. April is going to be a bust like March.

Guys, the snow will be melting by 10 am this Monday, I will probably be here at 11:45 am at the park on Monday, will the rides will be open if the snow melts on rides on this Monday, I'm going to the park on this Monday.

Forecasts all say it will snow until 10 am. At 40 degrees its going to take longer than two hours for 3 inches of snow to melt off. Probably will be at least delayed opening as they remove the snow and spread salt, if they bother to open. If you can, plan for a another day, as much as the delay may suck. Not sure how well they can clear snow off of coaster tracks. Probably won't be too nice anyway being so cold and slush everywhere.

Hearing that the park is kinda crowded today most likely because of good weather and it's the day before Easter. Planning on going tomorrow since it's the only day I have off from track so hopefully it's not crowded.

I remember going on Easter one year and it wasn't that crowded.

I went yesterday and a lot of stuff was breaking down left of the fountain.  Same thing happened today.  Could it be a power issue maybe?

The park has posted that they are delaying opening till noon because of the snow. They also said to keep checking for updates, which may mean they are not sure about opening today. Seems more like a winter break than spring break.

Thursday seems to be the sunniest day, but still cold for this time of the year. Just not a very good forecast this week. Happens pretty often during spring in the cold and damp northeast.

Headed down today for the maiden visit of 2018. Hopefully these grey skies keep most others away. Should be a good start to the year.

Weather doesn't look all that good for this week. Now they are predicting more wet snow this Saturday, and temps staying well below normal into the foreseeable future. Probably going to be a cool and damp spring and summer this year.

I was totally impressed to see that they put in all of those yellow poles and finally made a walkway even with wording on the ground so people know what it's for, now they just need to figure out it's there and actually use it. Also, I will almost swear that the exit lanes closest to the parking booths and parts of the parking lot out that way weren't paved on Friday but were paved by Sunday.

Depends how much falls, right now they are predicting 1 to 3 inches of snow this Sat, and Sun will be cold so there will not be much melting. It has snowed in Philly as late as May 8th. Probably won't warm up until late in April at least, just a prolonged Winter this year. Northeast weather usually blows.

Edit, one forecaster now says we could even get 5 to 8 inches of snow this Sat, if that happens it will likely be another cancelled weekend for the park. Probably just the 1-3 is enough to cancel this weekend. April is shaping up to be just as much of a dud as March was.

Planning on going to the park tomorrow for my second visit of the season. The weather looks good mostly sunny with a high of 48 which isn't too too cold.

The park was packed today.  There were a lot of schools and camps.  A lot of rides were down too (Nitro, Ka, etc).  They are installing Cyborg’s lighting package as I post this too.

It was pretty crowded at first today, but it thinned out quickly when the sun began to set and the temps dropped. Nitro and Mine Train broke down. The Skyscreamer also broke down but did reopen. It was pretty windy which was probably why the Skyride and Parachutes were closed. KK was also closed but it was test running. I saw it rollback empty once, the first time I have seen a rollback in person. Houdini was also closed, even though the cool weather would have made it a good day for it to be open. TDK was also not running its preshow and some of the effects were not working.  There were lots of extra bratty little kids today that just ran past or pushed adults in line. Many of the queue videos had way out of sync audio.

I was actually in line in the station of kingda ka when it rolled back with people on it. Second time I saw it happen with people on it. They had to roll the train back into the station and the riders got the chance to wait to ride again. After a while they sent another train which also rolled back then the next one made it and it reopened.

I was by the fort when the rollback  I saw happened. Saw it was slowing down and not going to make it over the apex.

Houdini is apparently getting a refurb.  Hasn't opened yet.

Just curious, is this speculation or did you hear from an employee? I don't doubt it needs it, last time I was there in November the Houdini head was not operating so we just got a disembodied voice. I'd be up for them updating the pre-show with some more modern effects but that might be a stretch. Anyone know any more info on this?

I'd be curious to know when they plan on opening Houdini again. I've finally convinced one of my friends who isn't super into big roller coasters to give Six Flags Great Adventure a shot and Houdini was one of the unique non-coaster rides we told her she has to check out. Our trip is planned for May 5 which seems tight for a refurb depending on its extent... I'm hoping this was started in January and not April? I'll feel a bit bad if it ends up being closed but I do think she'd still enjoy herself.

The lack of shows and flat rides are what keeps many of my friends and family away, as well. They will go to WDW with us--but I can't drag them to Six Flags at all.  I realize that Six Flags is all about cheap tickets and marketing to a certain demographic, but they are missing several market segments with their shortsightedness.

More flats would be good, I like that they have been trying to correct that over the last 6 or so years. I remember there was some amount of time when Red Zone purposely closed rides like Tango and Houdini to save money and removed many flats and if someone went early or late in the season without water rides open (around 2008 or 2009), the only non kiddie rides totaled to under 10. Skyway, Jolly Roger, Buccaneer, Fantasy Fling, Parachutes, Twister, Tea Cups, Motion Simulator, Carousel.

Thanks! Just figured I'd see if anyone knew any details or had asked.

AGREED! I'd love for them to add some shows...I actually was thinking they could have a DC stunt show and then I saw on here they did in the past. I actually just went to WDW with this friend in October. In all honesty I'd love to see Six Flags do some more strategically placed dark rides. Might be an unrealistic hope for budget and perhaps space issues, but I feel like they'd bring in some more people who would otherwise not go and also work for families and kids. The reason I say strategically placed is it can be cold during Holiday in the Park and I feel like being able to dash quickly to a ride that's heated would be a plus (or even AC on hot days). Additionally, there would be more to do if it started raining during your visit. I also think an indoor coaster that is fast (probably needs to be launched for that) would be cool too...though admittedly that might not appeal to their missing market.

I actually think they should be careful with flat rides to an extent. They may help move a lot of people but I don't know that they necessarily bring in new guests and more income unless if they are truly unique. Plus, how long are they unique? We are the first in North America getting Cyborg this year but how long until parks on the boardwalk get a copy under a different name? Why pay the $50/$75 for Six Flags when you can just go down the shore and pay a couple of bucks per flat ride until you get your fill? That may be the mindset of people who aren't big on roller coasters. It really depends on the goal, I feel like more flat rides may help alleviate long lines but I'm not sure that they'll bring in markets they are missing.

With that said, I realize flat rides are probably way cheaper than dark rides and we are more likely to get flat rides. I just think if they were able to invest in a few unique dark rides over the years that might bring more markets in because they can't experience those somewhere else locally. My mind may just still be stuck at Disney but Six Flags gave me some hope for that with Battle for Metropolis. Whether or not they'll follow up with more remains to be seen.
