Sluggo77 21
NY Governor Cuomo is predicting at least two more weeks for the apex which makes me think four weeks at least as of now. After the apex then things need to subside overall. It’s going to be a while unfortunately. Not discounting the more serious people loss on top of this. Just saying from the theme park stand point we aren’t going in anytime soon.
The Master 152
PA governor Wolf just extended stay at home orders to April 30, and announced that schools and some businesses in PA are closed indefinitely. He has aleo banned non-essential bus travel from NY into PA. The Delaware Valley region is concerned about NYers fleeing into our region which poses a hazarrd. Up in RI, the police are pulling over all NY plated cars. The Philly region is pretty upset being next door to the epicenter of the outbreak. https://6abc.com/travel/new-york-travel-quarantine-has-locals-on-alert/6063546/ Edited March 31, 2020 by The Master

At least I can go to Great Adventure soon in May. Also no birthday party at CEC in April 5th (have to rebooked until May soon). I wish virus will die soon in NY / PA / NJ by late April or early May. Please god, will virus will END soon by summer! Stupid China ruining my life! Guys help me, will there will also be second wave of virus by this Fall-Winter? 1) I’m against Trump as much as the next, but the regulations in place are kinda sorta necessary for us as a country to get passed this virus. Not to mention, these regulations are mostly going to be set in place by individual states, and the NJ governor seems pretty adamant about shutting down the state for as long as he sees fit. 2) How would we have any clue if there’d be a second wave? You, me, the CDC, whoever you wanna say, has no earthly idea how this virus will evolve over the next few weeks, let alone in a few months from now.
29yrswithaGApass 1,605
We can talk about this until we’re blue in the face but nobody knows anything more or less than the next person and we all have to wait this out. Not just us, not just New Jersey, not just the United States, but planet earth. This is bigger than any of us so just stay safe, stay calm, and all do our part to minimize spread. And let’s try to get this discussion thread back on topic. 2
The Master 152
It was on 6ABC that gov Murphy has announced that the various closures for the virus are likely to last deep into May in his words. At this point, it will be surprising if any local parks will be open by Memorial weekend.

Its hard to say if either NJ or PA parks may reopen first. Depends when Wolf or Murphy lift their closure orders, both will drag their heels.

rj1972 15
It will be interesting to see how all of this turns out. SIX recently put a poison pill in place to avoid a competitor takeover, as their stock price was tanking well before the virus hit. Their stock is down 65% year to date, and last year was also a dismal decline. Jim Reid-Anderson pretty much ran the company into the ground. Such a shame.

The Saudi Sovereign-Wealth Fund just picked up 8.2% of Carnival Cruise Lines cheaply. I could see them making a play for one of the theme park companies too. Cedar Fair, SeaWorld, and Six Flags are all really cheap right now. There are also rumors that Warren Buffett is taking a look at the theme park sector.
The Master 152
I think it will be a slow rise in stock prices in the theme park industry. People are likely going to be afraid and not wanting to visit parks real quickly. Edited April 8, 2020 by The Master

Because Six Flags is looking for more year round weekend operations like SFA, SFOG, SFSTL, and Frontier City to save the money in the future. Explain to me why you think great adventure is so important and why other parks should be sacrificed (especially st louis and america which have made significant progress in recent years, we don't go into the merits of frontier city and over georgia why?) I remind you that great adventure until 2008 was a park that closed every year passively, thanks to shapiro if you now have a healthy park before writing; please think! XENITH 156
I was just doing some homework and stumbled upon the Hindenburg disaster that occurred in New Jersey. Now I didn't know it had occurred at the Lakehurst Air Base near Jackson, so I took to Google Earth to see if it was the answer to a long time question I have had for years: Every time I've ridden El Toro and Bizarro, I've looked out into the distance and seen a massive, very ominous looking titanic of a building in the distance but I never knew what it was. I was always intrigued by the building, since it was just so gargantuan and strange yet unknown to me. I thought perhaps it was part of a naval base for some sort of training or something along those lines, but upon my research I think its actually the building where the Hindenburg originated from! I've looked at images like the one below and it matches exactly with what I remember seeing in the distance from riding El Toro and Bizarro. Can anyone verify if this is true or not? 29yrswithaGApass 1,605
Yes! You can see it lit up at night from atop the Big Wheel too. It is massive.
