Our wish for day 22:



Add a dark ride to the park. While The Dark Knight is coming, and it will be a dark ride, it's also a coaster. Many parks have added modern dark rides, including Six Flags parks, but Great Adventure does not have and has never had a true dark ride. It's something that the park is LONG overdue for.

I always thought the park should have added a Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory boat ride during the Time Warner years. It could have been built on the then vacant Houdini/Dare Devil Dive site and it would have mixed in nicely with the whole candy theme of the Carousel and Yum Yum Palace.

It would be great for a park that needs a new water ride!

Now that my friend is one hell of an idead!!!! Especially with the water effect now gone, a new boat type ride would do nicely in the park. Even if it was not themed around a movie or anything, I believe a modern boat ride would be welcomed warmly.

SFStL has a cool Scooby Doo laser shooting boat dark ride that was cool, SFGAdv could really use one since the whole family can ride it and the park is starting to lack on that type of ride.

Is it anything similar to the Buzz Lightyear ride down in Disney World? That was pretty fun for myself and I know kids certainly do enjoy it. I think it would make a good mark on the park.

Yes it is except it is a boat ride which is cool. PDK also has a dry ride version but I think SFStL version is better.

Either way it sounds like it would be a fun attraction, but with MTWE gone it would be like addressing two situations.

1. I dont know if anybody ever looks at the used rides on italintl.com, but theres currently a western themed shooter for sale and its pretty cheap. It would fit perfect in the Western section and, what do you know, we have an abandoned building in the western building. Ironically, the Shooting Gallery building. Now I know one of the reasons its closed is because of its location, but the entranc einstead would be located on Teepees old spot and it would be a themed Western facade of a bank. The queneue would go behind the facade and over the bride and guests would board at the building.

2.Also, chillers station ahs been sitting dormant since 2007 and it still has its queneu, and its still in Movietown. Why not turn it into Scooby Doos Haunted Masnsion. Theyre very popular and would work great. we already have a buildidng build that just needs to be themed to a haunted house, and a queneu. Reopen Old Country, even if it's just Musik Express or Autobahn and theyll be plenty of guest traffic passing the building, plus, the building will kind of fit into both lands/

Having seen the hoops the park has to jump through just to build a temporary haunted maze, building a dark ride at the park would be a total nightmare. I'm shocked they even got The Dark Knight through the Planning Board and approvals.

Mazes are differenbt because there temporary and physical(needs guest involvement). A SAFELY build dark ride in a PERMANANENT building dhould not be any problem

Except that a maze is in the open air, while a dark ride is an enclosed building with track that generally doubles in on itself several times. If a fire broke out, how do you evacuate guests in the middle?

That's Mr Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland...and that's a small and simple dark ride.

Toad uses old technology and cramped space. Scooby Doo is more modern and I'm sure that the park can find a way to configurate the track as to make it safe to evacuate in an emergency. How does Disney do it?

Disney makes their own rules so it doesn't matter to them. That's what happens when you have that kind of money...

All Im saying is if they were able to make dark knight( a coaster) happn a slow moving family dark ride should not be a problem

More aptly, how does Canada's Wonderland, Kings Dominion, Carowinds, SFFT, SFSL, etc. do it? They're very much on our level and I have to imagine that any dark ride these days is well-constructed enough that exit is easy from anywhere in the course. If they got Dark Knight, Skully, Brutal Planet built, it seems to me they could pull this off, especially if they were proactive about using fire-retardant materials and installing top-notch emergency sprinkler and rider surveillance systems. The bigger issue would be keeping some of the park's stupider guests in their seats and away from messing up the scenery.
