The 2012 Sixth Annual Warner Awards Results

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our 6th Annual GreatAdventureHistory.com Warner Awards. And the 2012 winners are....
Starting with the rides, Best Ride (Non Roller Coaster) was won by 2012's newest signature attraction SkyScreamer with 34% of the votes. Last year's favorite, the Saw Mill Log Flume placed second with 22% of the votes while Houdini's Great Escape took third place with 12%.
In the Best Roller Coaster wars, El Toro and Nitro, have taken the first and second spots for six straight years in a row with 41% and 29% of the votes, respectively. For the first time Rolling Thunder rounded out the top three spots with 7% of the votes.
Once again Houdini was voted the Best Themed Attraction after being awarded 41% of the ballots. Bizarro surpassed The Dark Knight Coaster this year wining second place with 15% of the votes compared to Dark Knight's 13%.
For the fourth year in row Bizarro's themed sign was a big winner. Voters gave it top Best Attraction Sign honors with 36% of the votes followed once again by Kingda Ka with 29%. Green Lantern's sign took third place this year with 13% for the second year in a row.
The Best Upcharge Ride or Attraction award went to Dare Devil Dive with 44% of the tally followed by the Slingshot ride with 33%, and the Great American Road Race rounded out the top three with 23%. These results were almost identical to last season.
The Best Attraction to Ride at Night was the same as last year with the winner being Nitro followed by the Big Wheel with 46% and 21% of the ballots respectively. SkyScreamer knocked out last year's third place winner Bizarro taking in 15% of the votes.
Great Adventure's Best Remaining Original Attraction from 1974 was the Log Flume with 49% of the votes. The Runaway Train and Sky Ride switched spots this year for second and third places with the mine train bringing in 23% and the always popular cable cars scoring 13%. Each of the six original rides walked away with a piece of the voting pie.
Last year's Best Show with 31% of the votes was the Flippers & Fins Dolphin Show which was discontinued early in the season. Its replacement Sea Lion Celebration came in second with 26% followed by the newly debuted Safari Discoveries Otters Show with 15% of the votes.
With our intentional omission of Fright Fest from this year's Best Event category, the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular took top honors with 36% of the public. The temporary Coca-Cola Swelter Stopper promotional display landed 28% of the votes followed by the post-season Six Flags Grape Adventure event with 13%.
Dead Man's Party - The Guest List, was chosen once again as the Best Fright Fest Attraction with 23% even after having been relocated from the Big Wheel to Movie Town, followed by Ghoulmaster's Ghost with 13% and the newly rethemed Wasteland haunted trail with 10%.
The Golden Kingdom was tops again with 44% of the votes taking Best Themed Section. The Best Children's Section was awarded to Bugs Bunny National Park with almost half (49%) of all the votes, followed by Looney Tunes Seaport with 44% and Safari Kids a distance third with only 8% of the votes.
As usual, Best of the West Barbeque is tops with 56% of votes being cast for it in the Best Restaurant Food category. The Panda Express and Mama Flora's Cucina ranked second (13%) and third (10%). The Best Restaurant Facility category was won by Great Character Cafe with 41% of the votes followed by the Best of the West Barbeque with 36% and Panda Express with 8%. In the Best Food/Snack Stand award, the Conestoga Wagon remained at the top with 51% of the votes. Johnny Rockets ticked up to second place (13%) and LaCocina with 10% of the votes took the #3 spot. Best Name Brand Food honors went to Johnny Rockets, Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs and Panda Express with 33, 21, and 18% respectively.
With 41%, the Boardwalk was ousted by Studio 28 as Best Games center with 44% followed by the Dream Street Tent's Boardwalk Game Center with 11%. The Best Games of Skill winner was Ladder Climb with 26% of the votes followed by Kingpin Bowl-a-Rama with 21% and Watergun Games with 18%.
Main Street Market was most popular with 33% of the votes making it the Best Shop, followed by the Safari Outpost (15%) and the Justice League Headquarters winning third place with 13%.
Hurricane Harbor's Tornado slide was voted Best Hurricane Harbor Attraction for its third year with 23% of the votes. The Falls came in second with 18% of votes and the new King Cobra slide kicked out Taak It Ee Zee Creek lazy river for third place with 15%.
In the Wild Animal Safari Park the African Plains ranked highest with 33% of the casted ballots in the Best Safari Attraction award. The Lion Kingdom section had 18% of the votes followed by Bear Country with 15%.
The 2012 season offered the most new attractions in 12 years. The 2012 Best New Ride was SkyScreamer taking first place with 67% of the votes. Second place was Fender Benders bumper cars with 26% and DejaVu Scrambler ride with 5%. The Best New Feature or Improvement was actually the removal of something and not the addition. Guests loved that there was less in-park advertising plastered about the park- 51% appreciated the change over everything else done at the park. Second place went to the addition of the new Security Scanning Gates which made getting into the park easier (26%) and the introduction of the pay one price On-Ride Photo Memory Stick came in third with 13% of the votes.
Looking to the future, once again the Best Opportunity for Reopening/Redevelopment was awarded to having the now closed Old Country area reintroduced into the park. It was elected by 46% of our voters. Our second most popular request was that the Batman Stunt Arena reopens (21%) and having a show inside the Showcase Theater was requested by 13% of the voters.
Lastly in the Most Like to See in 2014 category, the top request for new capital was once again a Drop Tower (28%). Thrill-Type Flat Rides came in second (16%), and a new Dark Ride and a show package tied for third place with 13% of the votes each.
So those are the results of our 6th Annual 2012 Warner Awards as voted by our members at GreatAdventureHistory.com. As always, we applaud this year's winners but would like to take a moment to reflect back on the attractions we lost this past season. (Click the placard below)

i went to the park today and i noticed that they are advertising way to much again.

interesting how everyone wants a drop tower.....i think its a BAD idea.....id much rater see something like a coaster in old country.....
