Today was the 49th season opener at Great Adventure!  Beautiful sunshine and the absence of Covid-19 restrictions made for a wonderful day at the park.  While no new attractions were on tap for this year, numerous projects around the park are underway to spruce up our beloved park on the eve of her 50th season in 2023.

Here are some pictures of what is happening at Great Adventure!

The Wild Safari Drive-Thru is back for good as well as the return of direct access to the newly refurbished Safari toll plaza. With new security scanners in place for the long term, a new entrance pavilion replaces the temporary tent which housed the scanners.

The 1976 ticket booths welcome guests. Paper park maps and racks are gone, replaced with an oversized park guide with QR-code to download a mobile version.

The Liberty Square Gazebo is gone, soon to be replaced by covered seating for Johnny Rockets.
Looks like the Big Wheel will go another season without a full set of cars or lights.

Granny's has received a new menu, patio bar, and simplified interior.  Sadly, the four oversized ceiling light fixtures, a 1974 original, have been removed.  The wall mounted fixtures have also been removed and replaced.

Several structures in the new Jr. Thrillseekers section have been repainted including the newly renamed Storm Chaser swing ride (formerly Tornado).

The Adventure Theater (originally the Wiggles World Theater) has been removed along with a good portion of the adjoining seating.  The site will soon be the Barnstormer kid's ride which was removed from Looney Tunes Seaport for the construction of the Jersey Devil Coaster.

Jumpin' Joey is now Tree Top Hopper.

Looks like the area allocated to the Funnel Cake Factory will be expanded in the Pine Barrens area.

The new colors of Batman The Ride are much more vibrant than the old faded ones.

Fatburger is coming soon replacing the Johnny Rockets near Batman. The covered patio (the original Freefall queue cover) has been removed at the Metro Grill.

Cyborg is open!
Hopefully this isn't the end product of the Yum Yum Cafe refresh.

The Four Tents are in the process of being repainted!

The western photo booth has been removed. The Runaway Train has received some TLC.
Giraffe Encounter has replaced the Safari Off Road Adventure.
The Sawmill Log Flume is also getting some updates.

Numerous trees have been removed near the Runaway Train's lift.

The outlook for the Northern Star Arena doesn't look great. Medusa is back!  Or at least it will be soon!

El Toro has returned to the joy of opening day riders!
