Early work begins on the Gran Prix ride.   This ride was very much on the edge of the park at the time of construction, but within a year the woods behind it would give way to the Fun Fair section of rides added in the park's sophomore season.
With the structure complete, the Gran Prix awaits the addition of the cars to the track.   Like many of the early park rides, Gran Prix was a European import, direct from the fair circuits.   Like the bumper cars, the ride building was designed to be easily assembled and disassembled, yet still be durable and substantial.   This was the first of 3 sites Gran Prix occupied while at the park, and is currently the location of the Studio 28 Arcade.
