Every year park goers look forward to visiting Great Adventure to see what has been added, what has been removed, and what has changed.  With the announcement of Six Flags' $42 million "War On Lines" package for Great Adventure featuring over 25 new rides and attractions, opening day 1999 ranked right up there with a level of anticipation typically associated with a child waiting for Christmas!

Because few details were known about the new ride package, rumors ran rampant about what would be included in Great Adventure's new ride arsenal and where everything would be placed within the park.  To make things even more difficult, the park kept changing their plans, shuffling rides around the park, some even after their concrete foundations were poured.  The 1999 park maps reflected some of these last minute theme and location changes, as can be seen by rides illustrated in locations where they never were constructed.

The only way to find out exactly what was happening was to visit the park when it opened to the public on April 2nd, 1999.  Here are some photos from a tour of the park on opening day 1999 as the world finally learned what really made up Six Flags Great Adventure's "War on Lines".
