The Runaway Mine Train was Great Adventure's first major roller coaster
running through the woods and along the lakes of the Rootin' Tootin' Rip
Roarin' section of the park. The steel coaster was custom designed to
fit the area and featured wooden supports along the lake and guest
facing areas, with steel supports along the back areas that were out of
public view.
The coaster was ready for the park's July 1st opening day, though the
station for the ride along with the Fort and the rest of the Rootin'
Tootin' Rip Roarin' area of the park were slightly delayed opening July
4th.
