  1. This month marks the 25th anniversary of both the masterpiece of crap that is the Batman & Robin movie and the flawed but very fun roller coaster that was originally built to promote said movie.
  2. I just watched Coaster Studio's RMC doc and Fred Grubb does mention that RMC is still developing the T-rex concept. Another employee in the movie may or may not have also alluded to another future coaster type called the Brontosaurus.
  3. Some are saying that it’s gonna be renamed to Riddler’s Revenge. I really hope that’s not gonna be the case. Here’s a chance to finally give the ride a proper Western name and theme that it should’ve had since 1999.
  4. I'm guessing this means the NJ Transit bus service will resume soon? Probably around Memorial Day, when full time operations start.
  5. Love this update! But I've always wondered, does any sort of concept art exist for the coaster when it was going to have a Gremlins theme?
  6. Some cool new facts I've found over the past couple years. The Simpsons Ride's storyline was originally going to revolve around the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, with Mr. Burns serving as the main antagonist. But when Burns' voice actor (Harry Shearer) declined to participate, the Krustyland storyline we now have was developed in its place. There were also rumors of a Treehouse of Horror overlay for Halloween Horror Nights Batman the Ride in Six Flags Great America was originally going to be named Hurricane (as both a homage to Tidal Wave and to tie it into the Yankee Harbor section of the park). But during the planning, Time Warner acquired 50% of Six Flags and the new owners made it a priority to promote their brands in the parks. Thus, Hurricane was renamed and rethemed to the Batman movie franchise. Superstar Limo was almost retooled as Goofy's Superstar Limo. The main reason for the renovation being that Disney wanted to reuse all the fiberglass character statues that were being removed from The Disney Stores that were being rebuilt across the country and place them throughout the ride. The Batman Stunt Shows in Magic Mountain were the only ones to not be staged in a specially built venue. The original show was held at the park's repurposed ski show venue. From 1995 until the venue's demolition in 2016, they were held in the repurposed dolphin show arena. All of the original Marriott era buildings at Six Flags Great America are built to the same earthquake code in California, even though they didn't have to be. This is because Marriott intended for all Great America parks to use the exact same plans. It also applied to the aborted third park that was planned for the Virginia/Washington DC area. Prior to INTAMIN introducing them in the early 1980s, Arrow had developed proof of concepts for a river rapids ride and swinging ship. But their parent company at the time, Rio Grande Industries, refused to let them develop them any further.
  7. At the very least, I can see Jersey Devil being open by spring break.
  8. I've always wondered after seeing some of Premier's recent rides. Would it have been possible at any point in Chiller's lifespan in the park for Premier to convert the launching system from LIMs to LSMs? Sure they're more expensive, but they're supposedly more reliable than the LIMs. Who knows, maybe Chiller would still be in the park today.
  9. So track work's gonna be finished by the end of the month. Is it possible that Jersey Devil is gonna be the first coaster since Nitro to be up and running by opening day?
  10. Honestly, theming a ride after Song of the South wasn't the smartest move in hindsight. If Disney is so hellbent on making people forget about that movie, basing an E ticket off of it is counterintuitive.
  11. RIP Joel Schumacher. You may have made a crappy movie. But that crappy movie resulted in a great ride!
  12. This will be the first time since Chiller that a new coaster has missed its planned opening season. Granted, they both had different reasons for their postponed openings. (One had serious mechanical issues and the other was caught in the middle of a global pandemic)
  13. Even though this land got scuttled, I kinda wish they found a way to still reintroduce Swiss Bob. Like they did with Schwabinchen/El Sombrero.
  14. I remember Alan mentioned that RMC was developing a middle of the road single rail coaster that's larger than the Raptor, but smaller than the T-Rex. Maybe they're prioritizing that project since it's a more natural progression than 200 ft max to 500 ft max.
  15. Also, Skull Mountain was supposed to be a Gremlins themed coaster. As for the Contact ride, it would've been like Chiller in the sense that the ride is WAY better than the movie it's themed too.
  16. Hate to go all personal, but considering that several people I know got infected (one of whom recently succumbed to it), the last thing on my mind at this time are theme parks in general, let alone Great Adventure. Gotta prioritize in times like this.
  17. At this point, it’ll come as no surprise if they decide to postpone opening to late May/early June.
  18. I'm guessing one of the announcements will also be a clone of Super Nintendo World for Orlando.
  19. 1. Dollar Store Star Wars Meet & Greet 2. Time Warner era Scrambler 3. Latter Day Joust-a-Bout 4. Shockwave Bugs Bunny costume 5. Rocket engine in Movietown 6. Right Stuff post-ride simulators 7. Some games stand 8. F-104 jet in Boardwalk 9. Basketball game near The Right Stuff 10. Sci-Fi 11. Mercury capsule in Movietown 13. Looping Starship 14. Enterprise 2 15. Bell X-1 outside The Right Stuff 16. Fly Me to the Moon 17. Evolution 18. Space Shuttle sign 19. Marvin the Martian Ferris Wheel 20. Enterprise 1 sign
  20. Wait, wasn't Robin Hood a 1991 show? Still an amazing timeline update! Can't wait for the next few weeks!
  21. I remember a few of the Lethal Weapon sets were still rotting away in the lake up until the demolition.
