News & Events: The 2005 season saw the largest expansion in the history of Great Adventure, with the addition of The Golden Kingdom, and its star attraction Kingda Ka, the tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world.   As part of the Golden Kingdom, a new tiger habitat and show arena were added called Temple of the Tiger, and a new children's area called Balin's Jungle Kingdom was built to take the place of Bugs Bunny Land, featuring rides and interactive play structures.   In addition, the park continued its multi year refurbishment program, with improved and updated landscaping and improvements to many restaurants and facilities.  Also, 2005 was the first season to offer a full show lineup in many years, with each facility offering some kind of entertainment and the re-introduction of street characters throughout the park.

At the close of 2005, Six Flags corporate management went through a change, with the former Premier Parks management team being replaced by a new team after a stockholder vote.   The new team was headed by Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins.   Snyder brought in Mark Shapiro, former head of ESPN Networks to run the company and implement system wide changes.
